Tras un último disco bastante pobre que no convenció ni a él y que dejó temas tan infumables como Aloha ó Porn Star donde incluso se atrevió con el ya sobreexplotado autotune, Fat Joe vuelve con el que será su décimo álbum en solitario, The Darkside Vol. 1. Un disco que supondrá probablemente el retorno a sonidos más clásicos y que a juzgar por el elenco de productores que encontraremos en el disco a buen seguro que se alejará bastante de J.O.S.E. 2.

Entre los beatmakers que harán acto de presencia en este trabajo estarán Scram Jones, Scoop Deville, Just Blaze, DJ Infamous, Raw Uncut, Streetrunner, Cool & Dre y cerrando el disco DJ Premier.

En cuanto a colaboraciones encontraremos un buen puñado: Clipse, Cam'ron, Young Jeezy, Trey Songz, Rico Love, R. Kelly, Too Short, TA y Lil Wayne.
